Thursday, November 8
Depart Jerusalem for Tiberias and the Galilee, stopping in Nazareth for lunch, continuing on for a visit to the Basilica of the Annunciation and other sites in Nazareth. From Nazareth, drive to the Upper Galilee- checking in to the picturesque Kibbutz Hagoshrim guest house our home for three nights- located just 30 miles from Tiberias – in time for dinner (included).
Friday, November 9
Morning: visit to the ancient and mystical city of Safed (Zefat)- located high in the Galilee, Israel’s highest town, with a history dating back to ancient times. It is also renowned as the center of Kabbalists dating back to the 16th century. Here, we will enjoy a walking tour of Old Safed, with time for a stroll through its Artists’ Quarter, followed by an afternoon at the Hula Reserve – site of world wide importance for migrating birds and a natural habitat for many local species. Return to Hagoshrim with time to relax and enjoy its amenities before Shabbat evening Dinner (included).
Saturday, November 10
Day trip to Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee (in Hebrew, the Kinneret). Some of the places we will visit include Capernaum (site of an ancient Synagogue, where Jesus preached and home of his disciple Peter); the spiritual and scenic Mount of the Beatitudes (where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount); and Tabgha, where Jesus miraculously multiplied the loaves and the fish. Lunch on our own at one of the colorful restaurants along the Sea of Galilee before we return to Hagoshrim for dinner (included). Time permitting, we will make a brief stop at the Yigal Allon Museum- home to a 1st century fishing boat now known as the “Jesus boat.”
Sunday, November 11
Depart Galilee for Tel Aviv – stopping en route in Caesarea, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with impressive archaeological excavations providing a firsthand experience of life during the time of Herod. We will arrive in Tel Aviv by afternoon – checking in to the deluxe Sheraton Hotel, located on the Sea – with time to rest, walk along the seashore and enjoy a dinner on our own at one of the many nearby restaurants. Overnight at the Sheraton in Tel Aviv.
Monday, November 12:
Departures for home.
